Rent-Controlled Tenant's Rent Hikes Properly Calculated

LVT Number: #20011

Rent-controlled tenant complained of a rent overcharge. The DRA ruled for tenant and found that the apartment's MCR was $903 as of Jan. 1, 2007. Landlord appealed, claiming that there had been a number of rent increases over the years that the DRA miscalculated or improperly omitted. The DHCR ruled for landlord in part. The DHCR revoked two rent reduction orders pertaining to J-51 tax abatement offsets to MCI rent hikes. But landlord wasn't entitled to collect the MCI rent hikes, so the 2007 MCR remained $903.
