Rent-Controlled Tenant Owes Back Rent

LVT Number: 16744

Landlord sued to evict rent-controlled tenant for nonpayment of rent. Tenant claimed that no rent was due. The court ruled for landlord. Tenant appealed and lost. The trial court correctly calculated MBR and MCI rent increases based on DHCR orders. And tenant's claim that landlord didn't credit all his rent payments wasn't supported by his receipts. All of these were taken into account in the court's decision.
