Registration Records Show Rent Never Reached Deregulation Threshold

LVT Number: #28302

Landlord sued to evict tenant, claiming that tenant was an unregulated month-to-month tenant. Tenant claimed that she was rent stabilized and asked the court to dismiss the case. The court ruled for tenant. Landlord appealed and lost. The lower court's review of DHCR rent registration printouts provided by landlord showed that tenant's apartment rent couldn't have reached the then-applicable $2,000 rent deregulation threshold and that the apartment therefore was rent stabilized.
