Plumber Fined $4,800 for False Statement Denying Installation of Gas Shut-Off Valve

LVT Number: #27673

DOB issued a violation notice to landlord’s plumber for making a false statement in an application for retesting an existing gas stove from the meter. DOB’s inspector observed a newly installed gas shut-off valve behind the stove in a second-floor apartment. He said pipe sealant was still fresh and wet. The plumber claimed that the new installation was made after his retesting was done. The ALJ ruled against the plumber and fined him $4,800. The plumber appealed and lost. ECB also found that the plumber made a material false statement in his application.
