Nonpaying Tenant Can't Get Further Delay of Eviction

LVT Number: #23629

Nassau County landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. Landlord and tenant signed a settlement agreement in court. Landlord got a judgment of possession and waived $28,000 in back rent owed by tenant. Execution on the eviction warrant was delayed until February 2010. Tenant later asked the court to extend the stay of eviction. The court ruled against tenant since he didn't offer to pay any of the rent arrears or present a valid reason for his request. Tenant appealed and lost. The lower court reasonably refused to further delay the eviction.
