No Proof Roommate Was Nontraditional Family Member

LVT Number: #27635

Landlord sued to evict occupant from apartment after rent-controlled tenant died in 2014. The occupant claimed that he was tenant’s nontraditional family member and entitled to succession rights. The trial court ruled for landlord after occupant failed to produce any documentary proof or corroborating testimony from another witness in support of his claim that he was tenant’s nontraditional family member. Occupant’s testimony alone was insufficient to prove his claim.
