Tenant asked the DHCR if he was required to give landlord notice of a guest or roommate. In an opinion letter, the DHCR said no. There is no requirement that a rent-stabilized tenant notify landlord of a guest. Similarly, applicable rent regulations don't require tenant to notify landlord that tenant has a roommate.
