No MBR Increase Application Filed Since 1986

LVT Number: #20125

Landlord asked the DHCR to rule on the status of tenant's apartment and how much the legal rent was. The DRA found that tenant was rent controlled. Tenant showed that she had lived in the apartment since the 1960s. The DRA set the maximum collectible rent at $248.68 per month. Landlord appealed, claiming that the rent should be higher. The DHCR ruled against landlord. Prior landlord filed for and received an MBR increase in 1986. The maximum collectible rent of a rent-controlled tenant can be increased only by a DHCR order.
