Multiple Dwelling Registration Not Signed

LVT Number: 11927

Landlord sued to evict co-op tenant for subletting without landlord's permission. Tenant claimed that landlord's multiple dwelling registration was defective, and so the petition should be dismissed. The court ruled for landlord, and tenant appealed and lost. Although the multiple dwelling registration wasn't signed, the defect didn't warrant dismissal of landlord's petition. The purpose of the registration law is to put on record the names, addresses, and phone numbers of persons responsible for the building's operation so that they can be contacted when needed.
