Minor Cracks in Walls and Ceilings

LVT Number: 15814

Tenant complained of a reduction in services. The DRA ruled against tenant after an inspection, and tenant appealed. Tenant claimed that a drop ceiling was illegally held up by screws and that bathroom and bedroom walls were cracked. The DHCR ruled against tenant. An inspection showed that the drop ceiling was properly secured, there were no cracks on the bathroom walls or ceilings, the living room ceiling had a hairline crack, the master bedroom had a small, minor crack on one wall, and there was no water seepage at the cracks.

These were minor conditions that didn't warrant a rent reduction.
