MCI Rent Hike Granted for Lobby Alterations

LVT Number: #22895

Landlord applied for MCI rent hikes based on lobby alterations. The DRA ruled for landlord. Tenants appealed and lost. Tenants claimed that landlord had just renovated the lobby three years earlier. But landlord's prior MCI application was for hallway and flooring work. Since then, landlord spent over $83,000 for the installation of a front entry and vestibule door, and for alterations to the landing, staircase, and ramp to improve access for handicapped tenants. This work qualified as an MCI.
