Loft Building Covered

LVT Number: 14101

Facts: Landlord sued to evict five tenants in the commercial part of landlord-tenant court. Tenants claimed that the loft units were used for residential purposes. At least three of them showed that they had moved into the units in the 1980s and used them for combined living purposes and artists' studios. Court: Landlord loses. At least three of the units were residential, so landlord was in the wrong court. Also, landlord didn't state in its petitions whether the building was registered under the Multiple Dwelling Law.
