Lease Didn't Have Valid Renewal Clause

LVT Number: 14705

Landlord sued to evict tenant when tenant's lease expired. Tenant claimed that his lease had been renewed. The court ruled against tenant. Tenant appealed and lost. Tenant's lease had a clause that stated that the lease would be renewed ``at the term of the lease,'' but this didn't provide for a specific renewal period or an amount of rent to be paid at renewal. This vague renewal clause wasn't valid and couldn't be enforced to get a renewal of tenant's lease.
