Landlord Restored Doorman Service

LVT Number: 15470

Tenant complained of a reduction in services based on landlord's failure to maintain doorman service. The DRA ruled against tenant because landlord had restored the service. Tenant appealed, claiming that she should still get a rent reduction for the period when there was no doorman service. The DHCR ruled against tenant. Tenant's complaint was sent to landlord on Dec. 15. Landlord was granted an extension to answer and did so on Feb. 6. Landlord stated that, as of Jan. 29, it had hired a new doorman.

It is DHCR policy that if landlord restores services before the DHCR inspection, there generally will be no rent reduction, since services were restored in response to the complaint.
