Landlord Not Given Chance to Submit Updated Building Registration

LVT Number: 13993

Landlord sued to evict tenant. Landlord showed that it had filed an annual multiple dwelling registration for the building in May 1997. But the court dismissed landlord's case because this registration wasn't current. Landlord appealed, claiming that the court acted unfairly. The appeals court ruled for landlord. The lower court had refused landlord's request for permission to produce the updated building registration after the court's lunch break. The case was sent back for a new trial.
