Landlord Fined for Sagging Wood Floor

LVT Number: #26332

DOB issued a violation notice to landlord for failing to maintain the building in a safe and code-compliant manner. DOB’s inspector observed that wood flooring in an apartment living room and hall was sagging and sloping. Landlord claimed that there was no corrosion or water damage and that he replaced the floor prior to the first hearing date. The ALJ gave landlord a mitigated penalty of $100. Landlord appealed and lost. The inspector sufficiently tested and found that the floor wasn’t level.
