Landlord Fined for Installing Staircase Without Permit

DOB issued a violation notice to landlord for installing a steel staircase between the first and second floors of his building without first obtaining a permit from the agency. The ALJ ruled for landlord and dismissed the violation. DOB appealed and won. Landlord was in violation of Administrative Code Section 28-105.1 and was fined $1,600.
