Landlord Fined for Faulty Drainage System

DOB issued a violation notice to landlord for failing to properly maintain the building's drainage system. DOB's inspector saw rain water spilling directly from the roof to the sidewalk. Landlord claimed that the DOB issued the violation for the wrong building. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined him $500. Landlord appealed and lost. DOB submitted photographs showing water spilling from the front of landlord's building, and landlord offered no proof to the contrary.
