Landlord Fined $900 for Unsealed Walls in Boiler Room

LVT Number: #30461

The Fire Department issued a violation notice to landlord for failing to provide and maintain fire-rated construction around boilers in the building. Despite landlord's claim that it had made repairs, the ALJ fined landlord $900. Landlord appealed and lost. The inspector found that landlord had failed to seal holes in the wall of the boiler room, where pipes penetrated the wall and ceiling of the oil tank room. Although landlord claimed that repair work was completed, it didn't obtain a certificate of correction until after the ECB hearing date.
