Landlord Didn't Keep Sidewalk Clean

LVT Number: #21158

DOS issued landlord violation notices for having a dirty area in front of the building. Landlord claimed that his tenant swept in front of the building about three times a week and picked up trash two or three times a week. Landlord also claimed that trash in front of his building came from a bodega across the street and that DOS denied his request to place a public trash can at that site. The ALJ ruled against landlord and fined him $300. Landlord appealed and lost. Landlord's building was on a corner in an area with heavy pedestrian traffic.

Cleaning three times a week wasn't sufficient to keep the area clean.
