Landlord Didn't Certify Correction of Violations on Time

LVT Number: 10246

Fire Department issued a violation notice to landlord based on violation of seven different rules. The notice imposed a reduced penalty of $775 if violations were corrected by the hearing date. Landlord argued that no penalties should be imposed, since it corrected all but one violation within two days of the violation notice. Landlord corrected the Rule 14 violation as soon as it could find a proper contractor to do the work. Landlord claimed it didn't know it could certify partial correction of the violation. The ALJ ruled against landlord, and landlord appealed.

The ALJ ruled against landlord, and landlord appealed. ECB again ruled against landlord. The front of the certificate of correction clearly provides for partial correction of some but not all of the violations.
