Landlord Can Keep Security Deposit and Is Awarded Additional Damages

Landlord sued former tenant in small claims court for repair expenses that exceeded tenant’s security deposit. The court ruled for landlord. Tenant appealed and lost. Landlord proved that tenant caused damages to the apartment that went beyond ordinary wear and tear. And tenant’s counterclaim for return of his security deposit was properly dismissed.
