LVT Number: 18170

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonpayment of rent. The court ruled for landlord based on tenant's default. Tenant later asked the court to delay the eviction and allow his sister to pay the back rent owed. Tenant was in jail, and his sister was staying with his children in the apartment. The court ruled for tenant. Landlord appealed and lost. Tenant showed good cause, and the lower court properly allowed tenant's sister to intervene in the case and pay the back rent. Tenant's sister wasn't given any rights to the apartment.
