Court Set Rent for Former Super's Apartment

LVT Number: 15593

Landlord sued to evict tenant. Tenant was the former building super whose lease stated that when he was no longer the super, his apartment would become rent stabilized at a rent-stabilized rent. Tenant claimed that the rent should be $88 per month, the same as the apartment's last rent under rent control. Landlord claimed that the rent should be at least $2,100, based on rents of other renovated apartments in the building. The court set tenant's monthly rent at $334, using similar rent-stabilized apartments in the building.
