Court Can't Order Landlord to Remove Surveillance Camera

LVT Number: 13719

Landlord sued to evict tenant for nonprimary residence. Tenant asked the court to order landlord to remove a surveillance camera or device in the hallway of the building opposite his apartment door. The court ruled for tenant, and landlord appealed. The appeals court ruled for landlord. Except for proceed- ings for the enforcement of housing standards and other limited remedies, the civil court isn't authorized to issue this type of order. So the housing court can't order landlord to remove its surveillance camera.
