Landlord sued tenant in small claims court to recover rent. The court ruled for landlord, and awarded him $1,500. Tenant appealed, pointing out that the building wasn't registered with DOB. The court ruled for tenant, and dismissed the case. Under Multiple Dwelling Law section 325(2), a landlord who doesn't register his or her multiple dwelling can't recover any rent.
