Building Entrances and Elevator Repaired After Hurricane Sandy

LVT Number: #25796

Rent-stabilized tenant complained in July 2013 of a reduction in services. He claimed that he was forced to move out of his apartment due to damage following Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. Landlord pointed out that tenant had obtained a rent reduction to $1 per month for the same reason in a prior DHCR proceeding. Tenant argued that he still had limited means of entering and exiting the building. The DRA ruled against tenant following DHCR inspection, and dismissed the complaint. Tenant appealed and lost.
