Apartment Occupant Has No Standing in Eviction Case

LVT Number: #23604

Landlord sued to evict tenant and other occupant. The court ruled for landlord. Occupant appealed, claiming that he was a “permanent tenant” under the hotel stabilization provisions of the Rent Stabilization Code. But no landlord-tenant relationship was ever established between landlord and occupant. Tenant’s tenancy was properly terminated, and the occupant had no standing to claim any right to remain in the apartment.
