Administrator Appointed to Recover Deceased Tenant's Apartment

LVT Number: #23623

Landlord asked the Surrogate Court to appoint a Public Administrator to recover a deceased tenant's apartment. After the month-to-month tenant died in March 2011, his family took no action to remove tenant's belongings, and landlord suffered financial harm since, by law, he could not simply recover the apartment. The court ruled for landlord and appointed a Temporary Administrator for the sole purpose of repossessing the apartment.
